District 1 Community Council
The District 1 Community Council is your connection to city
and county officials. We can guide you to local government resources and will
keep you informed of issues that arise in our neighborhoods.
Zoning and development, crime prevention and
safety, and
environmental
concerns are the primary areas we deal with under contract with the city.
But we are also here to help you build relationships with your neighbors
and create the kind of community you would like to see in the Eastview,
Conway, Battle Creek and Highwood Hills neighborhoods.
Our Board of Directors oversees
the Council and consists of up to 15 residents, employees, or employers of
our four neighborhoods. Each Director is elected to a 2-year term at our
annual meeting in March. The Council staff
consists of a part-time community organizer and a part-time crime prevention
specialist. Each Director serves on one of three
committees: Land Use, Communications or Finance.
