The District 1 Community Council spends nearly 100%
of its time and budget on the four neighborhoods of our district
–Eastview, Conway, Battle Creek and Highwood Hills. Our funds come from contracts with the City of St. Paul,
from a few foundation grants, and from donations made by people like you.
The District 1 Community Council cannot function without the support of our community.
Donations from the community help to support such activities as:
- Building block clubs among neighbors and helping businesses with their security issues;
- Advocating for street improvements such as the Suburban Avenue planters, lighting and bridge enhancements;
- Working with parks and the library to put on community events and bring resources to the area for all residents such as upgraded playgrounds, showcases of the eastside, and job training sessions at the library;
- Promoting recycling, sustainability, and preservation of the river bluffs and other natural areas;
- Communicating with neighbors about opportunities and resources, and connecting them with each other around issues of concern;
- Building coalitions with neighborhood and regional organizations to create a better place to live and work in our neighborhoods.
We are committed to representing the whole community and to being accountable to the community and our funders.
With your help, we can do even more. For those of you who have already sent in donations
this year, our heartfelt thanks for your support. For those of you who are thinking about donations
and can give to the Council, we hope you give generously. All money donated
helps us reach more people, connect them in positive ways, and make our
neighborhoods the best places to live in the City of St. Paul.
