District 1 Community Plan - a 10 year Vision for the Neighborhood

3/1/2016

Each district council is responsible for developing a community plan that the City will adopt as a part of the City's own Comprehensive Plan (a requirement of all local municipalities...). District 1 has spent about 4 years surveying residents, meeting with them one-on-one and in community gatherings to find out what kind of vision we jointly have for our shared community. We have explored the changing demographics and the history of our 4 neighborhoods, looked at potential developments and investments that are coming our way, and re-examined all our old plans and the City's new plans.
The result is a community plan and vision that will help guide what this part of Saint Paul becomes. This plan will be reviewed in Spring 2016 with additional public input and a final version approved in Summer 2016. This community plan includes the first-ever Saint Paul neighborhood Transportation Plan that covers walking, biking, transit, travel by car, and commercial transportation (including trains). After formal approval, the plan will be available here for download. In the meantime, contact our office if you would like to see the draft.
