Greetings all and many thanks for your great energy tonight. We had a good turn out and the conversations seemed spirited. I hope everyone left well-fed in mind and spirit.
I would like to give a special thanks to the volunteers from the League of Women Voters for all their time and efforts tallying the election results for District 1! It was quite the effort given 121 ballots were cast in this year's election. What an amazing turnout at this year's D 1 Annual Meeting. I want to welcome new board members Hafsa Mohamud, Aisha Mohamud, Amina Samatar, Paul Sawyer, Bonnie Watkins, Jamillah Shabazz, Melissa Wenzel, Matthew Barrett, Chai Lee and Lee Vue. District 1 Community Council Annual Meeting & Elections The annual meeting had a great turnout this year — people had a chance to learn more about the District 1 Community Council, eat some food from local eateries, mingle and vote. About 45 people attended on Saturday, March 24 and over 60 attended on Monday, March 26 — with a total of 121 ballots being cast. At both meetings the outgoing President Paul Sawyer gave an overview of things the board has accomplished in the last 4 years — including the Community Plan, Strategic Plan and the Equity Plan. The re-branding campaign was also introduced and examples given to those in attendance at the time. Information was also posted around the room about the District Council in general, the Youth Council and the Land Use Committee. Congratulations to the new board members!
For those of you aren’t on the board but want to be involved — remember we still need you to serve on any of our committees (Land Use, Communications/Outreach & Safety, Finance/Fundraising and Youth Programming). Learn more about the committees on the D1CC Committees page. Most committees meet on a Monday evening. Check the calendar for dates and times.
